The Trentonian, James Champion, Jr. EWING - James Champion, Jr., 70 of Ewing, NJ departed this life on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Aria Hospital, Bucks County. Born in Richmond, VA, Mr. Champion was a graduate of Trenton Central High School. He retired from Hamilton Building Supply in 2010. He was formerly employed by US Steel, CV Hill and Wherry Doors and Hardware. He was a member of New Holy Cross Church of Christ Written In Heaven. He was a member of Carver Lodge #43 I.F. &A.M.M. where he served as Past Junior Warden and Past Marshal; Royal Arch Cypress #5; Knight Temple Abraham #3 and Phoenix Temple #12, Shriner Dept. He was an honorably discharged, US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the NJ Army National Guard. Predeceased by his father, James Champion, Sr. ; brother, James Higgins and a grandson, Antonio Ortiz, III surviving are his wife, Gloria Brumby-Champion, his mother, Rosalee Champion; two sons, James C. Champion (Retoneya) and Dion F. Champion (Umeka Hopson); a daughter, Dorice Ortiz; three grandchildren, Allena Pollard Champion, Dinari Champion, Tyrese Davis; six brothers, Wesley (Sandra), Michael (Madalyn Dixson), Woodrow (Karen) all of Trenton, Ronald (Doretha), Jaycee, Tony (Fonda) all of SC; a brother-in-law, Joseph Brumby of Trenton; four sisters, Rosalee and Shirley Champion of Trenton, Brenda Wright of Ewing, Linda Champion(Ronald Blackman) of New York; three aunts, Mary Belton of Bristol, PA, Georgianna Belton of Hopkins, SC and Irene Spears of Birmingham, AL; four uncles, Wesley Champion of PA, Boise Roberts of Richmond; Hampton Roberts of Tennesse, Henry Roberts of Trenton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be Friday at 12noon at New Holy Cross Church of Christ Written in Heaven 500 E. State St. Trenton, NJ. 08609. Interment will be in Brig. Gen. William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery Arneytown, NJ Calling hours will be Friday from 10am to noon with Masonic Services beginning at 11am at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
